A collection of photographs of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) originally planned for exhibit on the main floor of the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. has instead been displayed in the basement without its original captions. The move came as Congress engaged in intense debates over opening ANWR to drilling. Democrats have objected, claiming that the museum has a double standard for political statements. Alaskan senator Ted Stevens applauded the move, saying accusing Democrats of trying “to use the Smithsonian.”
