Rigoberta Menchu, the Quiche Maya winner of the 1992 Nobel Peace Prize has accepted a position in the administration of new president Oscar Berger. She will likely serve as a “goodwill ambassador,” helping to promote the recommendations of the 1996 peace accords that ended Guatemala’s 36-year civil war.
