The federal task force operating in Mato Grosso will double this week to ensure the removal of illegal occupants from Marãiwatse Indigenous territory. As of December 18, 2012, 31 ranches had been inspected. Ministry of Labour inspectors have joined inspection teams to follow up evidence that Xavante families in the area have been pressed into forced labor and the presence children under 13 who have never attended school. Roadblocks in the region, erected in protest against the eviction of illegal occupants, continue. A bridge was sabotaged and part of it collapsed.
