The Australian Human Rights Commission has released a new guide for Indigenous Australians, explaining how they can use the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. The guide discusses the rights outlined in the declaration and offers communities advice on how they can use its principles and reinforce its legitimacy. It also gives examples of how Indigenous Peoples are already using the declaration to address their issues. Although the guide is intended for Indigenous Australians and Torres Islanders, much of the information and many of the suggestions are applicable for Indigenous communities anywhere.
