2019 is International Year of Indigenous Languages

Indigenous Languages Matter!

 

Around the world a substantial amount of languages are disappearing, and among these, many Indigenous languages are in danger. In 2016, the UN General Assembly, on a recommendation from the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, proclaimed 2019 to be the International Year of Indigenous Languages.
