National Endowment for the Arts and Center for Independent Documentary Award Funds to Expand OurMotherTongues.ORG

Cultural Survival’s Endangered Languages Program and Makepeace Productions are teaming up once again, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts’ ARTWORKS program and the Center for Independent documentary, to develop enhancements for the OurMotherTongues.org companion website to the award-winning documentary Âs Nutayuneân—We Still Live Here. The film
tells the inspiring story of the Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project’s work to bring their language home after nearly 150 years without fluent speakers in their tribal communities. Throughout the next year,  OurMotherTongues.org will be expanded to include additional tribal language immersion programs on the Our Mother Tongues website, new faces on the Voices page, and new video modules and podcasts in Indigenous languages.  Funds will also support implementation of a new Story Circles blog, inviting language advocates and educators from many more communities to share their language revitalization efforts via photos, audio and video footage. We are eager to hear your ideas for the website, so please share them at submit@ourmothertongues.org.
