Radio Triyuga 104 FM is located in Triyuga-12, Gaighat Udayapur in Koshi province, Nepal. The station was founded on January 4, 2007 by a group of local communities, mostly members of Indigenous communities, united in the Sagarmatha Information and Communication Cooperative. The station serves the Indigenous communities living in the districts of Udayapur, Siraha, Saptahari, Sunsari, Okhaldhunga, Khotang, Dhanusha, and Dhankuta, which collectively have almost 900,000 inhabitants. It broadcast for 18 hours a day with program productions in four different Indigenous languages apart from Nepali: Tharu, Tamang, Magar, and Rai.
Under this project, community consultations will be conducted to understand which language programs are most desired by people of different age groups. Storytelling sessions will be produced in collaboration and partnership with fluent speakers and cultural leaders and practitioners from the four Indigenous nationalities. At least four radio program producers will be trained to ensure that program content is always accurate, meaningful, and reflective of the community's value and knowledge systems.
