Bangladesh Indigenous Peoples' News (representing more than 54 Indigenous Peoples)

Bangladesh Indigenous Peoples’ News works for the promotion and protection of the rights of Indigenous communities in Bangladesh through journalism. We primarily train Indigenous youth to develop their journalistic and investigative skills. Bringing the untold stories of Indigenous Peoples from the grassroots to the policy table through journalistic reporting is also another major work of IPNEWS BD.

The main objective of the approved project is to focus on audiovisual production to increase our audience, including international viewers. Three fellows have been hired to produce at least three audiovisual reports each under the project. The fellows will also be responsible for translating into English at least three written reports to be published in IPNEWS within the project period. The audiovisual reports will be on various topics addressing Indigenous Peoples’ human rights violations, self-determination movement, and traditional self-governance system in Chittagong Hill Tract, as well as situation reports to be published on IPNEWS online media platforms. The activities will raise awareness among the affected people and influence policymakers to solve the respective problems. As a result, the Peoples of the community will benefit from the State's policy change.
