Center for Indigenous Knowledge, Development and Sustainability (Yoruba)

The Center for Indigenous Knowledge, Development and Sustainability, popularly called CIKDAS, is an Indigenous-led organization created in 2012 to promote Indigenous Knowledge systems in Nigeria, especially in Yoruba land, where cultural values and ideologies are the lifeblood of life.  CIKDAS aims to revive dwindling cultural value systems and highlight the voices of the voiceless in the Indigenous community, preparing the youth to continue to steer the ship.

The approved projects are a workshop and radio productions. The workshop will focus on the use of community radio for young Indigenous men and women to develop their knowledge and skills in radio production and scriptwriting. The radio production consists of collecting stories from Elders and showcases two different areas of local government for wider dissemination.  It will feature Elders with storytelling skills, making use of both traditional experiences and uses of African folktales, which are very relevant in Yoruba land.  Young people and also people with physical disabilities will be in attendance. The produced content will be 80% in Yoruba and 20% in English.
