The Endorois Indigenous Women Empowerment Network is an Indigenous women-led, community-based organization founded in 2016, deeply committed to promoting self-determination, amplification of voice and status, and empowerment of marginalized women, persons with disabilities, youth, Endorois youth, and other Indigenous and marginalized communities in Kenya. They aspire to be a social movement for the stewardship of the Endorois community that plays a vital role in the preservation of language, environment, health, culture, and general welfare through designed training, outreach activities, research, documentation and advocacy. The Network also serves as a Disabled People's Organization and as an expert on intersectionality, minority, and Indigenous Peoples' rights.
The Endorois Indigenous Women's Empowerment Network media collective has multiple objectives focused on cultural preservation, community empowerment, and amplification of Indigenous voices. It aims to document and preserve the rich heritage of the Endorois people through various media formats, ensuring the intergenerational transfer of knowledge. They are committed to empowering Indigenous youth and women by providing them with essential skills in media production, thereby creating economic opportunities and fostering resilience within the community. The collective provides a platform for the Endorois community to self-represent, countering misrepresentation in mainstream media while defending their rights. It promotes community cohesion through dialogues and screenings that strengthen ties and encourage expression. By increasing visibility and promoting Indigenous content through online platforms, they aim to foster greater appreciation for Endorois culture both locally and globally, combating stereotypes and promoting cultural respect.
