Raíces Ancestrales Indigenous Audiovisual Production Company (Huarpe)

The objective of the Raíces Ancestrales Indigenous Audiovisual Production Company is identity-based communication to make visible new voices of women, Indigenous youth, children, and Elders. They use audiovisual media as a tool of decolonization from patriarchal oppression, and they believe that exercising the right to communication in one’s native language creates the great possibility of exercising the right to self-determination and disseminating and promoting Indigenous rights and cultures, native languages, cosmovisions, and spirituality.

Their project, “Pecne Tao Huanamina” (Song of Mother Earth), shows the importance of the recovery and revitalization of language and its awareness. It consists of four audiovisual programs and a historical archive that will enable the content to be transmitted to future generations. They emphasize community participation to guarantee that the voices in the songs are interpreted in their own Indigenous language to Mother Earth in relation to sustainable lifeways and buen vivir (good living).
