The following video was produced by Global Witness based on interviews and research in 67 communities of the Democratic Republic of Congo. It tells the personal stories of the impacts of large-scale logging companies.

In February of 2004, Global Response launched a campaign to protect the rainforest and rights of Indigenous peoples in DR Congo from industrial logging sponsored by the World Bank. Thanks to letters from our members, we were successful in pressuring the Bank's Inspection Panel to undertake an investigation of the Bank's policies and practices in the Congo. The Panel's report, released in 2007, found the Bank in violation of many of its own policies and standards.
This film, which was shown at the World Bank’s annual meeting in Washington DC, September 2011, shows that violations continue to be made. Now, the World Bank is undertaking a new review of its forest policies, including those implemented in Democratic Republic of Congo.
