The East Timor Action Network (ETAN) has supported the people of East Timor for the past 10 years. Its efforts helped limit U.S. military aid to Indonesia after its brutal occupation of East Timor, and they have worked hard to maintain human rights restrictions on military aid legislation in Congress. However, these restrictions are in danger of being revoked by the U.S. in the hope that the Indonesian government will reciprocate with support for the U.S. war on terrorism. An increase in U.S. military spending could prove lethal for the people of Aceh and West Papua, where the death toll from ongoing conflicts rises daily.
