A new Google Earth video produced by National Geographic, International Rivers, and Friends of the Earth shows in wonderful detail the reasons why dams are not the answer for clean energy in this era of rapid climate change. "It is a devil's bargain to sacrifice the planet’s arteries to save its lungs," explains Narrator Nnimmo Bassey, winner of the Right Livelihood Award. The video visits areas of the planet that are overwhelmed with dam construction despite being particularly sensitive environments in Africa, the Himalayas, and the Amazon. Watch it here:
